Job description

Open Box Software is an internationally focused consulting company that specialises in business and software consulting services for the Real Estate Industry. Since 2001, we have been delivering practical, smart, and cost-effective technology solutions for our clients. We have a team of highly talented individuals who are driven by excellence and open to finding a better way of making a positive impact.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the Open Box team in Cape Town. You will take ownership of software projects from initiation through to delivery, working closely with clients and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully, within scope, budget and agreed timelines.

This role requires someone who can bring structure to complex environments, communicate confidently with stakeholders and create the clarity teams need to deliver quality work. You will be comfortable balancing client expectations, commercial priorities and the day-to-day realities of technical solution delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology projects from initiation and planning through to implementation and handover

  • Define and manage project scope, timelines, budgets, deliverables and success criteria

  • Establish clear project plans, delivery milestones and governance processes

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, quality assurance professionals, external vendors and client stakeholders

  • Facilitate project ceremonies and maintain momentum across the delivery lifecycle, including running project status and SteerCo meetings

  • Monitor project progress, dependencies, risks and constraints, taking proactive steps to address issues

  • Manage project budgets, resource requirements and commercial performance

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting and delivery forecasts

  • Manage project teams and project team members

  • Communicate progress, decisions and risks clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Proactively work with project team members, stakeholders and clients to solve project challenges

  • Build trusted relationships with clients and act as a central point of contact throughout delivery

  • Manage changing requirements and expectations through clear prioritisation and change-control processes

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Open Box’s project delivery practices

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of project management or delivery experience within a software development, technology consulting or digital environment

  • Demonstrated experience managing software projects across the full Software Development Life Cycle

  • Strong working knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall delivery practices, with the ability to adapt the delivery approach to suit the project and client environment

  • Experience managing project scope, budgets, timelines, resources, dependencies and risks

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and create accountability without relying solely on direct authority

  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage confidently at both operational and senior levels

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong planning, prioritisation and decision-making abilities

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and delivery quality

  • Experience using modern project and delivery management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Microsoft Project, Monday.com or similar platforms

  • A practical understanding of software architecture, testing, release management and cloud-based delivery environments

  • Commercial awareness and experience managing projects against agreed budgets or statements of work

Personal Traits:

  • Friendly and humble

  • Conscientious

  • Empathetic and self-aware

  • Considerate
